 Based in Detroit Michigan the Detroit Lions is a professional football team that competes in the the North Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL).One of the earliest teams to play professional football they started playing as early as 1929 as an independent professional team. They were initially based out of Portsmouth and were called the Spartans but later due to the financial meltdown of the Great Depression they shifted to Detroit and were renamed the Lions.The team colors are Honolulu Blue, Silver, Black, Whiteand the team mascot is Roary the Lion.In 2008 they hit an all time low by losing all 16 games in the season, they only team ever to do so. |

 Ford Field is the home of the Detroit Lions and is located across the street from Comerica Park in Detroit Michigan.It is designed in a fashion similar to Ford Center, a multipurpose sports/concert arena located in downtown Oklahoma City which includes immense skylights and large glass windows at the open corners which at different time turned out to be a disadvantage as the NFL rules about sunlight which can be a major distraction to the players on the field. The stadium has a capacity of 65,000, and has a FieldTurf playing surface.Notable events include Super Bowl XL and WrestleMania 23. Ford Field hosted the largest crowd ever to attend a basketball game, as 78,129 people packed the stadium for the Basketbowl, where the University of Kentucky defeated Michigan State University, 79-74.
