Horse Guards Parade’s fascinating location next to Buckingham Palace and Whitehall is sure to make beach volleyball, already a popular spectator sport, one of the most oversubscribed events in 2012.
The parade dates back from 1745 and hosts the Trooping of the Colour event that takes place on the Queen’s official birthday each year.
A temporary arena will be built near the time to allow 15,000 spectators to watch the action unfold on the urban ‘beach’ for which sand will be brought in specially to the site.
