Bobsleigh has been contested in the Wintert Games since the first Winter Games that took place in the year 1924, in Chamonix, France. There was the exception of the 1960's games when the organizing committee decided not to build a track in order to reduce expenses. Other than that one exception, the four-man competition have competed at every game. And in 1928 it was a five-man competition. The two-man event was introduced at the 1932 games, and a two-woman event was first contested at the 2002 Winter Games.
