Your Bucket List: Australian Open

Published on: Oct 04 2015 by Leslie Lempka

The Australian Open begins on January 18, 2016 at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia, and is the first of the Four Grand Slam tennis tournaments of the year.  The French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open follow the Australian Open to complete the Grand Slam events.

The Australian Open was first held in 1905.  It is also the first of the Grand Slam events to feature retractable roofs on all 3 of their main courts.  A feature the fans love, as tennis can be played during rainy or hot days.

Seating options for the Australian Open include:

  1. Grounds Pass:  allows access into the grounds, and all the outdoor courts including the Hisense Area,
  2. Rod Laver Arena: features the best players on the biggest court.
  3. Margaret Court Arena: the smaller of the two main courts, you will still see some amazing tennis and some of the biggest stars.
