Baltimore Ravens
About the Baltimore Ravens
Based in Baltimore Maryland, the Baltimore Ravens is a professional football team that competes in the AFC North Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL).  The team was created in 1995 and a fan contest was held to select a new nickname in which "Ravens" was selected over 'Marauders' and 'Americans' due, in part, to the fact that poet Edgar Allen Poe spent the last years of his life in Baltimore and one of his most famous poems is called 'The Raven'. The Baltimore Ravens have won one Super Bowl title, Super Bowl XXXV, in the 2000 season against the New York Giants. The team colors are Purple, black, metallic gold, white while Poe the Raven(again in honor of E.A. Poe) is the team mascot.
